Currently a reporter for BBC Television's Newsnight and the London Observer, Palast has been called "The world’s greatest investigative reporter you’ve never heard of." Video ClipThousands of Parisians protest Bush policies (2002)

Notes from the filmmaker:

On May 26, 2002, George W. Bush, America's Supreme Court selected President, was in Paris, France to meet the recently democratically re-elected French President Jacques Chirac.

Concerned individuals and groups from all over the world mobilized to voice their feelings about the policies of the government headed by Bush. Up to 10,000 people were on hand to vent their frustrations and anger about the Bush's treatment of issues such as the war on whatever, the crisis in the Middle East, the environment, and world trade.

Gathering at Place de la Republique under heavy rain, the march continued to Place de la Bastille where they were greeted by blue skies and big, white, fluffy clouds. From Bastille, the protesters finished their march at Place de la Nation, where they danced to music, shared food and drink, discussed their opinions with fellow protesters, and dreamed of a better world.

Let us all hope that, like the march that began miserably with cold, pouring rain yet ended under sunny skies and good spirits, our world currently gripped by fear and suffering from exploitation of its resources and peoples will eventually see the light of a brighter day.
